Rabbi
Temple Shalom was pleased to welcome Rabbi Daniel Kripper to the congregation as spiritual leader and part-time rabbi in early 2022. Rabbi Daniel Kripper was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He completed his studies in Sociology and Social Psychology at the University of Buenos Aires. Throughout his extensive career, he has specialized in education, life coaching and spiritual counseling. He received his Rabbinical Ordination from the Latin American Rabbinical Seminary in Buenos Aires, after finishing his rabbinical program in Jerusalem and postgraduate studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In 2003, Rabbi Kripper received an Honorary Doctorate from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America for his successful service in spiritual leadership. Rabbi Kripper is married to Flora Brykman; they have three children and five grandchildren.

Cantor

Fred Scheff joined Temple Shalom as Cantor in 1995 and has led the congregation in music, singing and teaching, ever since. Fred enjoys introducing the congregation to a variety of Jewish music, both ancient and modern, and strives to do so at every opportunity. Fred’s Cantorial experience extends back to 1970. He has filled the role of Cantor, both full and part-time, at Temple Habonim in Barrington, Lawrence Jewish Community Center in Lawrence, Kansas, and Temple Beth David in Narragansett. In addition to his Cantorial studies, Fred earned a Masters of Music and a Doctorate of Musical Arts (DMA) at Kansas University. He received his Bachelor of Music at Rhode Island College. Fred grew up in North Kingstown and lives with his wife Carrie, who is also a musician, and two of their four children in North Providence, RI.
